Hanhiniity Smithy offers an authentic introduction to traditional Finnish blacksmithing in a real working forge surrounded by the peaceful scenery of Niinisaari island. Located on an island in Puumala, Lake Saimaa region and reached by a short ferry crossing, the smithy operates in the courtyard of a historic island farmhouse, immersed in forests and lakes.
The forge is led by professional blacksmith and instructor Martti Malinen, who provides a range of forging courses for both beginners and experienced craftsmen. Instruction is tailored to each participant’s skill level, allowing visitors to develop traditional metalworking techniques in an inspiring hands-on environment. Private teaching is also available throughout the year.
